Can teenagers in this day and age work? Today we will find out. My nephew is working with me today and it is just going to be manual labor, disgusting, backbreaking work. At the end of the video I will pay him. His pay will depend on how hard he works today. There is also several simple things we are going to be doing today that every teenager should know, and I am interested to see if he knows them. Really taking the bull by the horns here—he is driving me around. How is the truck driving going for the first time, Hayden? “It is not bad. It is pretty easy.” That is what I like to hear. The ability to carry pounds worth of topsoil? Check. Now to learn how to hook up a trailer. There you go, the man can hook up a trailer. All right, the man is at the dump. All right Hayden, how was the trip to the dump? “Smells terrible.” Good work! Picking up a massive load at Lowe’s. Hayden, what are we thinking of the inner workings of Lowe’s? “Feel like I am playing Block Blaster.” There you go! How is the first Lowe’s loading experience going? “It is not too bad.” Dana, what do we think of Hayden’s loading skills? “I think he is going for great.” That is good. Time to unload this puppy. Thoughts on the unload, Hayden? “Hopefully easier than the loading. A little bit more steps than the loading, but we will get it done.” Then we will go get something to eat. Look at the balance from this individual, they just don’t make them like this anymore! All right, all the little stuff is done. Now it is time for nine doors, three pieces of countertop, and of course, that dishwasher. How is the unload going, Hayden? “It is going pretty fast. It is going good.” Agreed. All right, lunch break. Let’s give it a taste test. “It is good. Tastes like when the cinnamon crunch is in your milk.” That is a very good analysis. This guy got beef tacos with parmesan cheese on top—I didn’t ask for parmesan, but that’s what they had. All right Hayden, first time tearing out a kitchen. Here we go! Well folks, we were just going to take the cabinets out, but I guess we are going to take out the bulkhead as well. Good work, there you go, all one piece! All right, we got the kitchen torn out and we are wrapping up today. I think your worth is worth about a dollar an hour, so here is some cash. “Thanks.” Just kidding, here is more dollars! But seriously, what did you think of today? “It was fun. You enjoyed it? Yeah. Wasn’t too bad. Would you do it again? Yeah.” There you go. To answer the question from the beginning: yes, teenagers can work! I am very proud of the young buck. It was fun hanging out with him all day, and super helpful having an extra set of hands. He learned a lot and he already knew how to do a bunch. He is definitely one of Botetourt’s finest. Also, he got extremely dirty and he didn’t complain one time. That is always impressive.
