Demolition has begun! New Flip House!

The demolition phase of this project has begun. Our trailer’s moved from another job to this job in Roanoke, VA. We purchased this home from someone who was in foreclosure in Roanoke, VA. We were able to purchase the home quickly prior to them being foreclosed on! having Rather The kitchen and the bathrooms are being ripped out as we speak. If you watched the last video on this project, you know that this room was full of cabinets. They’re all gone now. The only thing left from that old kitchen is the old fridge here. These walls were all of that old wooden paneling. What we’ve done here is we’ve ripped all that stuff off. You can see the glue and everything here. And we’re going to go back over that with sheetrock. Hey having a power problem here. Nothing. So what GMO is about to do is use that sander right there and take it to these upstairs bedroom ceilings. All right, we got some light up here now. I’m always trying to figure out what I need to do at the front end to make sure that things on the back end are easier. That right there is the existing door. That’s 32 in in width. Problem is, you often can’t get these heavier duty new appliances through doors that narrow. So, we went ahead and got this 36-in wide door. Getting that installed on the front end before all the siding’s done and before we have a Lowe’s delivery guys outside telling us they can’t bring in our brand new fridge. When we got demolition going on, the toilet’s always the last to go. You can see the vanity is gone. Everything else in here is gone. The built-in, the mirror, the light. But what isn’t gone is the toilet. Reason being, while you’re here, you got to have somewhere to use the bathroom. There was a time when when a project was at this stage, I would go ahead and do all my orders and have all the material on site. I found though that it’s best to just go ahead and get all the demo done and all the painting done before anything’s delivered. While it might seem efficient to have everything here and to make less trips, I think it’s actually inefficient to have crap laying all throughout the house and everyone has to paint around it, move stuff around it. It just doesn’t work out that well. So, everyone can get in here, do their thing, and not have to step around crap. We are doing all new siding windows on this house. As you can see, the front and two sides have brown siding. It’s not that old, but the back has this old yellow siding. Of course, we could have just kind of taken the cheap way out and tried to get brown siding that would match that siding that’s existing there. But the reality is, no matter how much color matching you do, this siding back here would be faded from the other two sides. So, what we’ve decided to do is just do full exterior remodel like we’ve done in recent ones. What I mean by that is we’re going to do new roof, new gutters, new siding, new windows, just the whole kitten kaboodleoodle. So, there’s no question in anyone’s mind that everything as far as the exterior is good, good to go, top-notch, and everything inside, like always, will be brand new. For being a small house, though, this place does have a freakishly large amount of windows. Also, if you watch my last video, my first video on this house, you remember that there was water just absolutely dumping into the basement. I’ll show you the reason for that. Basically, this downspout right here was doing its job. The gutters were clean. Water was just gushing out of it. But look, it just went straight directly onto the steps. Went down here. It was too much for that drain to handle. I cleaned out that drain and water was still gushing in there. So, temporary fix. Of course, I hooked this little uh black corrugated pipe to it. But, uh more permanently, the new down spout will go here and it’ll be routed underground to basically like a popup valve somewhere over there. Pretty pumped about this backyard. It’s flat fenced in. You can drive to it. So, it’s going to make someone a sweet backyard. Speaking of the yard, I got to get this grass mowed. So yeah, as far as the downstairs goes, this little area to the right, we are going to finish off. Now, it’s kind of been partially refinished, I guess, but we’re just going to, you know, take out this paneling that’s on this wall. And there’s actually an exterior window that’s right here. So, that’ll actually let some natural light in. So, that’ll just be the foundation wall. We’ll paint that. Paint that. We are going to do carpet down here. Try to keep it kind of warm. Then, we’ll do drywall there. Of course, there’s already a wall there, but we’ll patch that and paint it as needed. There were several comments on my last video asking if we thought it would be worth it to add a bathroom or people suggesting to add a bathroom. We mowled over that over the weekend and we just decided that we’re going to leave the footprint of this house the way it is. We just don’t think that the expense of it and the effort would be worth it for us. And to do that, we would just be have to eliminate a bedroom. So, let me know in the comments if you think that’s a dumb idea or a smart idea. I should have mentioned obviously there used to be an archway there, but the previous people or maybe even the people before that built a wall here halfway through that arch so that they could have more kitchen space and have the fridge. So, what we’re going to do so that this doesn’t just look like a half arch, we’re just going to box that puppy in. I should have mentioned about this downstairs area that we’re going to call an office is that um where am I going here? Yeah, they uh they actually when they redid the heating and air in this place added a vent down here. So, it is a climate controlled area. There’s the old vanity in two pieces. So, thanks to Byron, the old door frame is gone. This new door came with its own frame. That’s what you call a prehung door for those that you don’t know. Well, not only was the uh door too small for the appliances to come in, you can see the frame was uh rotten. We’re sticking with this door. Paint that puppy up. It’ll be nice. Definitely needs some work around the frame, though. That’s it. rolling on to another job. Thank y’all for watching as always. Appreciate it. If you got any tips, suggestions, or thoughts leave them in the comments!
